The Spain and Portugal Tour is a comprehensive 21 day tour across the Iberian Peninsula. Marvel at imposing castles and buildings of austere Castile in the heart of the country, stroll along grand promenades of northern maritime cities and listen to the melodies of fiery Andalucían Flamenco! On this grand tour of Spain, we’ll visit northern sites among them world famous Santiago de Compostela. Crossing the scenic Rias Bajas region we’ll view two of Europe’s oldest universities in Salamanca and Coimbra. Continuing via the white-washed village of Obidos we reach Lisbon, Portugal’s atmospheric capital, then crossing the peninsula to Andalucía, the land of toreadors and Moorish castles, we end our tour in the bustling cities of Valencia and Barcelona.

1st Day (Mon.) MADRID

To begin the Spain and Portugal tour we meet and assist you at the airport. Then we transfer you to the hotel. The balance of the day at your leisure. Accommodation at the hotel

2nd Day (Tue.) MADRID

Morning Madrid panoramic city tour; find the medieval origins of the city, like the Arabic fortress, at the Barrio de la Morería, famous for its historical buildings. Drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs characterized by Phillip II and its Renaissance and Baroque style buildings, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa.

The Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III, the Royal Palace, Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains and the Puerta de Alcalá. Admire the XIX C. works such as Prado Museum. 

Contemporary Madrid with areas such as Gran Vía, Castellana, the district of Salamanca, Plaza Castilla and Parque del Oeste, as well as commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, the emblematic Las Ventas Bullring and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium. Afternoon free to explore the wonders that the city has to offer. Accommodation at the hotel.

3rd Day (Wed.) MADRID – ZARAGOZA – SAN SEBASTIAN

Transfer to bus terminal, located in the underground parking of the Plaza de Oriente. Departure at 08:30 a.m. towards Zaragoza. Free time to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of The Pilar, patroness of Hispanity and stroll through the old streets of Zaragoza.

In the afternoon we will continue to San Sebastian,  where they hold the International Film Festival. Panoramic city tour of this marvel style bourgeois city, seeing the extraordinary landscape dominated by the bay and the magnificent La Concha beach. Accommodation.

4th Day (Thu.) SAN SEBASTIAN – BILBAO – CASTRO URDIALES – SANTANDER

We will approach Mount Igueldo, to contemplate the marvelous views of the city and then proceed towards Bilbao. Panoramic driver in Bilbao and free time on the esplanade where The Guggenheim Museum is located in order to admire this modern architectural building. Proceed to the old fishing village “Castro Urdiales”. Enjoy some free time.

Departure to Santander, a port city located between the sea and the mountains, well known for its Sardinero Beach, one of the best known beaches in Spain. Free time to stroll through this elegant city. Accommodation.

5th Day (Fri.) SANTANDER – SANTILLANA – COVADONGA – OVIEDO

Santillana is one of the most important historical artistic towns in Spain. It contains architectural treasures such as the Collegiate of Santa The na, a Jewel of the Romanesque Architecture in Cantabria. Continue to Covadonga, where you will have free time to see the Sanctuary and the Grotto where you will see the patroness of Asturias our Lady of Covadonga.

In the afternoon, departure to Oviedo, where you will see on a series of hills the beauty of Saint Maria de Naranco Church, Jewel of the pre Roman Asturian architecture. Free time to explore Oviedo, many of their streets are pedestrian, where you will be able to see World Heritage sites like The Cathedral, a splendid example of gothic Asturian architecture. Accommodation.

6th Day (Sat.) OVIEDO – LUGO – LA CORUÑA

Drive to the Galician region. Arrive to Lugo. Free time to be able to contemplate the Roman remains that still retains like its walls, declared World Heritage. Continuation to La Coruña. Brief panoramic driver through the main avenues of this fabulous town driving by the Marine Avenue to admire the elegance of this city with the typical Galician architecture of glass house galleries.

Brief stop in one of the wonders of the world the oldest working lighthouse the “Tower of Hercules” dating back from the roman period. Afternoon at leisure where you can assist an optional tour to the Rias Altas. Accommodation.

7th Day (Sun.) LA CORUÑA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Santiago de Compostela is declared World Heritage as it is one of the most important center of Christian Pilgrimages in Spain as the end of the Camino de Santiago route built during the Roman Empire.

City tour where we will see the main square called Obradoiro and also the Cathedral (entrance included) dedicated to the Apostle Santiago. Balance of the day at leisure to explore the narrow cobblestone streets and get the feel of the student atmosphere. Accommodation.

8th Day (Mon.) SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – RIAS BAJAS – LA TOJA – VIGO

Departure towards one of the most marvelous areas of Galicia, the Rias Bajas (Spanish Fjords). Driving through this magnificent landscape we will arrive to La Toja Island, universally known for its spa.

Free time and continue to the Ria de Arosa, passing through Pontevedra to arrive to Vigo, situated in the middle of the Rias Baixas. Accommodation.

9th Day (Tue.) VIGO – VIANA DO CASTELO – PORTO

We leave for the Portuguese border and then continue via Viana do Castelo, city located between the mouth of the river Miño and Porto, arrive to Porto. Accommodation at the hotel.

10th Day (Wed.) PORTO

Take a panoramic sightseeing tour of Porto considered World Heritage city. We admire the Cathedral, Stock Exchange building and Santa Clara church.

Afterwards, enjoy a different perspective of the city along the river Douro aboard the BlueBoats Cruise and discover the historic heritage visiting one well known Port Wine Cellars with a wine tasting included. Rest of day at leisure. Accommodation.

11th Day (Thu.) PORTO – COIMBRA – FATIMA

Coimbra has one of the oldest universities in Europe and the birthplace of Fado. Free time. Then to Fatima. Center of the Christian Faith and World Pilgrimage Sanctuary with its impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria place where the Virgin Mary appeared.

The Chapel of the Apparitions, heart of the sanctuary, with the tombs of the three shepherds, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. At night possibility to attend the procession of the candles. Accommodation.

12th Day (Fri.) FATIMA – BATALHA – NAZARE – ALCOBAÇA – LISBON

Batalha Monastery is a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style considered a World Heritage place by UNESCO. Continue to the picturesque fishing town of Nazaré. Free time and continue to Alcobaça (World Heritage) with its Gothic church and Cistercian monastery, whose origins date back to the XII C.

Then to Lisbon. Accommodation. Optional traditional and typical dinner including a show of Fado, typical Portuguese song and music.

13th Day (Sat.) LISBON

Morning sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissippo, drive through its main squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Coach Museum, Monument to the Discoverers, Marquis of Pombal Square, Liberty Avenue.

This afternoon at your leisure to catch the nostalgic corners of Alfama Quarter, the old city gathered next to its Castle, with old buildings nested in narrow twisting “Ruas” full of color housing the genuine “tabernas” where Fado sounds as a missing past. Accommodation at the hotel.

14th Day (Sun.) LISBON – CACERES – CORDOBA

At 07:30 hrs we leave for Caceres considered as World Heritage place because of the city’s blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture. Walk through its Plaza Mayor and the Old Town with its famous Medieval Quarter.

Afterwards, continue on towards Córdoba, once the capital of the Caliphate. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

15th Day (Mon.) CORDOBA – SEVILLE

An impressive tour of the Cordoba Mosque and other sites that will ease our mind and spirit strolling through its narrow winding streets of the Jewish Quarter. In the afternoon, after a short two hours ride reach Seville. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

16th Day (Tue.) SEVILLE

Morning panoramic city tour visiting: the exterior of the Cathedral (the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peters in Rome), Santa Cruz quarter (a natural scenario of “Carmen” as well as a precisely where the myth of “Don Juan” developed), Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España.

Afternoon at leisure for you to discover exclusive views, specific flavors of this active full of light city. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel. Optional Flamenco tour.

17th Day (Wed.) SEVILLE – GRANADA

Drive east through the Caliphate road to the heart of ANDALUSIA observing an endless number of olive trees on the way to Granada and it’s incredible and amazing monumental environment, last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up to 1492.

Visit the world famous Alhambra complex and Generalife Gardens that have inspired several authors with its sound and sights, such as the “Tales of the Alhambra” by W. Irving. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel. Optional Gipsy Flamenco show at Sacromonte quarter.

18th Day (Thu.) GRANADA – VALENCIA

After breakfast at the hotel start driving looking for the Mediterranean coast. Via Murcia, capital of the fertile garden of the Segura river, continue north via Alicante, the second largest city within the region of Valencia. Reach Valencia one of the main capitals of the Mediterranean coast with its modern Arts and Sciences Architectural Complex integrated by six elements: Hemispheric, Umbral, Science Museum, Oceanographic, Palau de les Arts and Ágora. Valencia is also the home of the internationally well renowned and delicious “Paella”, Accommodation at the hotel.

19th Day (Fri.) VALENCIA – BARCELONA

Today we start with a morning city tour of this bright city including a drive through the old city showing the most prominent buildings, we will then be driven past the old riverbed of the Turia to the most avant-garde complex “Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias” to watch the emblematic exteriors of the six buildings.

An early afternoon departure northward all along the Mediterranean coast to Catalunya, via Tarragona, the Roman Tarraco. Reach Barcelona principal Mediterranean city homeland of the famous architect Gaudi symbol of the Catalan modernism. Accommodation at the hotel.

20th Day (Sat.) BARCELONA

Morning city tour of Barcelona well known worldwide for the Olympic Games during 1992, drive along the main avenues with impressive modernist buildings by Gaudi such as La Pedrera, Casa Mila, etc. – declared World Heritage buildings. – The Montjuïc Park with spectacular views of the city, Olympic Ring, monument to Columbus and the Olympic Port. Afternoon is for you to keep on discovering this city full attractive offers as well as exquisite and varied gastronomy. Accommodation at the hotel.

21st Day (Sun.) BARCELONA

After breakfast we end the Spain and Portugal tour and transfer to the airport
