1st Day (Tue.) BARCELONA

Begin your Northern Spain Basque Country  tour! Meet and assistance at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. Accommodation at the hotel

2nd Day (Wed.) BARCELONA

8:00 am morning Highlights city tour of Barcelona.  The first part of the visit consists in a guided walking tour through the small and narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter, the oldest part of the city. During this early visit we will see Las Ramblas, de Cathedral Square, The Cathedral (free time to visit the Cathedral by yourself), the Old Jewish Quarter, among other interesting places.

Later we will take our bus for a panoramic tour around the rest of the city. We will pass through the elegant Passeig de Gràcia Street, to see the Gaudi’s buildings (Casa Batlló and Casa Milà “la Pedrera”), the Triumph Arc, the Olympic Village and the Olympic Port. Then we visit Montjuic Mountain and enjoy panoramic views of the city riding the aerial tramway (subject to the weather conditions).

Nest is the Spanish Village (Poble Espanyol) with free time to enjoy the different areas inspired in different Spanish regions, where you will find craft shops restaurants and bars.  Finally, back to the bus, we will leave Montjuic and come back to the city centre passing through España square, the twin Venetian towers, the MNAC and the Shopping centre Las Arenas, build in an old bullring. We will arrive to Catalunya square, and we will end the tour.

3rd Day (Thu.) BARCELONA – BILBAO (train)

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Barcelona “Sants” train station to depart by train to Bilbao. Arrival to Bilbao train station and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.

4th Day (Fri.) BILBAO – GETARIA – ZARAUTZ – SAN SEBASTIAN

Departure to Getaria, one of the most charming coastal villages of the Basque Country. We will enjoy a walking tour into the historical quarter. Moreover, we will visit a workshop of excellent quality Cantabrian sea products, only captured with traditional methods. Included tasting of a pintxo with products from the workshop. Later, we will pass by the famous summer resort of Zarautz.

In San Sebastian, we will enjoy the magnificent views over the mount Igueldo and later a walking tour into the historical old town. Balance to the day at leisure in San Sebastian. Accommodation at the hotel.

5th Day (Sat.) SAN SEBASTIAN – BILBAO

Today is a free day in San Sebastian to enjoy the city to the fullest. In the afternoon, departure to Bilbao. Accommodation at the hotel.

6th Day (Sun.) BILBAO

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive Along the river of Bilbao, we will discover the interesting industrial past of the city. Already on the coast, we will stop to see the Vizcaya Bridge, heritage of humanity. Passing by the majestic Castle of Butron, we will arrive into the Biosphere of Urdaibai. From the lookout, we will discover the secrets of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Stage for the famous TV serial, Game of Thrones.

In Bermeo, typical fishermen village, we will stop for a walking tour and to enjoy its charms. Tasting of a typical pintxo included. Finally in Gernika, we will visit the interesting Assembly House and the famous Tree of Gernika and back to Bilbao. Free time for lunch (not included). Afterwards, guided tour to Bilbao with a walking tour of the old town. Accommodation at the hotel.

7th Day (Mon.) BILBAO – MADRID (Train)

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to rail station to depart by train to Madrid (please expect a later arrival in Madrid). Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.

8th Day (Tue.) – MADRID

In the morning we take a Madrid panoramic city tour. Discover the medieval origins of the city, like the Arabic fortress, at the Barrio de la Morería, famous for its historical buildings. Drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs characterized by Phillip II and its Renaissance and Baroque style buildings, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa; the Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III, the Royal Palace, Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains and the Puerta de Alcalá.

Admire the XIX C. works such as Prado Museum. The contemporary Madrid with areas such as Gran Vía, Castellana, the district of Salamanca, Plaza Castilla and Parque del Oeste, as well as commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, the emblematic Las Ventas Bullring and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium. Afternoon free to continue exploring the wonders that the city has to offer. Accommodation at the hotel.

9th Day (Wed.) – MADRID

Breakfast at the hotel before  end the Northern Spain Basque Country  and transfer to the airport. 

(*) Day 2: In January to March the cable car doesn’t run, this service will be replaced by a tapas tasting in Spanish Village.
Afternoon is at leisure to enjoy this wonderful city and surroundings. Accommodation at the hotel.
