A Small Group Tour of Spain to Andalucia from Barcelona.

Start in Barcelona, home of Gaudi and the Sagrada Familia.

The Spanish capital, Madrid, is known for the Prado Museum that houses works by Goya, Velázquez and other Spanish masters. The portico-lined Plaza Mayor, and nearby is the baroque Royal Palace and Armory,  are in the center.

Cordoba was a Roman city and Islamic center in the Middle Ages.  The La Mezquita mosque has stunning Byzantine mosaics and a columned prayer hall. It was built in 784 and became a Catholic Church in 1236. 

Granada is known for the Alhambra hilltop fortress built during the Moorish occupation. It encompasses royal palaces, serene patios, reflecting pools and the Generalife gardens.

Toledo is a stunning medieval city with Arab, Jewish and Christian architecture and monuments in the old city.

Day 1 MondayBARCELONA – MADRID (train)

Call on Barcelona “Sants” train station to depart by AVE, high speed train to Madrid “Puerta de Atocha” station. Enjoy the journey with the comfort and operating speed of this AVE train. Arrival and transfer from the station to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome drink and orientation session at the hotel this evening. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 2 TuesdayMADRID

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning city tour of Madrid; find the medieval origins of the city, like the Arabic fortress, at the Barrio de la Morería, famous for its historical buildings. Drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs characterized by Phillip II and its Renaissance and Baroque style buildings, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa; the Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III, the interior of the Royal Palace, Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains and the Puerta de Alcalá. Admire the XIX C. works such as Prado Museum. The contemporary Madrid with areas such as Gran Vía, Castellana, the district of Salamanca, Plaza Castilla and Parque del Oeste, as well as commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, the emblematic Las Ventas Bullring and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium. Afterwards, we will walk to a traditional restaurant to savor the traditional and delicious “Paella”. Balance of the day free to continue exploring the wonders that the city has to offer. Day 3 WednesdayMADRID – CORDOBA – SEVILLE

Breakfast at the hotel. 08:30 Pick up from your hotel and departure drive along La Mancha, Don Quixote’s land. Brief stop at typical site in Puerto Lapice. Cross through the natural border of “Despeñaperros” and get into Andalusia, a region for itself that shows an enormous heritage from a splendorous past. Reach Cordoba. Impressive tour of its Mosque and other sites that will ease our mind and spirit strolling through its narrow winding streets of the Jewish Quarter. Lunch served in a typical restaurant where you will also have the chance to know the traditional “Cordobesa” cuisine, such as the “Salmorejo” and the “Rabo de Toro”. After lunch, we continue the journey and after two hours ride reach Seville. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 4 ThursdaySEVILLE

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning Monumental and Panoramic city tour: the interior of the Cathedral (the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peters in Rome), Santa Cruz quarter (a natural scenario of “Carmen” as well as a precisely where the myth of “Don Juan” developed), Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España. During the city tour a soft drink or coffee will be offered in a “Rooftop” coffee shop contemplating magnificent exclusive views of the old part of the city. After the city tour a “Tapas” lunch will be offered in two different typical tabernas. Afternoon at leisure for you to discover specific flavors of this active full of light city. Day 5 Friday SEVILLE - GRANADA

After breakfast at the hotel drive east through the Caliphate road to the heart of ANDALUSIA observing an endless number of olive trees on the way to Granada and it’s incredible and amazing monumental environment, last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up to 1492. Visit the world famous Alhambra Complex and Generalife Gardens that have inspired several authors with its sound and sights, such as the “Tales of the Alhambra” by W. Irving. In the evening, dinner in a typical “Zambra Gitana” with a Gipsy Flamenco show at Sacromonte quarter. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 6 SaturdayGRANADA – TOLEDO – MADRID

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive northward where it emerges, toward the sky of Castilla and surrounded by the Tagus River, the impressive Imperial city of Toledo –World Heritage City- where the three cultures Christians, Moorish and Jewish, have lived together. Resume of the Spanish art, history and spirituality the whole town is a National Monument. Short guided tour of this historical old town through its narrow streets. Then proceed to a famous Wine Cellars where a Tapas lunch and Wine Tasting will be offered. Continue to Madrid. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 7 SundayMADRID

Breakfast at the hotel and END OF OUR SERVICE.
