Day 1, Saturday: BARCELONA
After your individual arrival at Barcelona airport you will be transferred to your hotel.
Rest of the day free to recover from jet lag or discover one of Europe's most
cosmopolitan cities on your own. In the evening, you can dine at Pueblo Espanol,
the famous open-air museum with replicas of buildings form all over the
world. Those who booked the Premium Package will have dinner included at the
Pueblo. Accommodation in Barcelona.
Day 2, Sunday: BARCELONA
After breakfast we embark on a guided tour of Barcelona. We will see the ancient Gothic Quarter with its magnificent cathedral.
We will have a stop at the famed Sagrada Familia basilica, Gaudi's world famous
unfinished work that looks like lace carved in stone. Continue to Montjuich Hill (site of the Olympic
Stadium), to enjoy a spectacular view of Barcelona and its port area. Free time
for lunch, perhaps in the Olympic Port area. Lunch included in the Premium
package. Rest of the day is at your leisure in this bustling city. Accommodation
Day 3, Monday: BARCELONA-ZARAGOZA-SAN SEBASTIAN-BILBAO
After breakfast we depart to Bilbao. First we drive to the province of Aragon
with a stop at the capital city of Zaragoza. We stop at the main square so you
have free time to visit the
impressive Basilica of El Pilar and have lunch on your own. Continue on to the
north coast of Spain to Basque country, arriving to the
seaside town of San Sebastian famous for its promenade along the lovely bay.
San Sebastian is often called
“the Pearl of the Cantabrian Sea”. Free time to stroll around, then we continue to Bilbao.

Day 4, Tuesday: BILBAO-SANTILLANA-COVADONGA-OVIEDO
After your buffet breakfast at your hotel we will have a short panoramic tour of the city,
then free time to visit the
Guggenheim Museum for those interested (on your own) Premium package includes
the entrance fee to the museum. Afternoon departure to the heart of Cantabria and
to the small town of Santillana del Mar, very well preserved with a typical medieval
time in Santillana, (PREMIUN PACKAGE INCLUDES LUNCH IN SANTILLANA) before
leaving to los Picos de Europa, one of the most spectacular landscapes of Spain,
to visit the shrine of Covadonga. This evening we will be overnighting in Oviedo,
the capital of Asturias famous for its intact town walls.
Day 5 Wednesday: OVIEDO- RIBADEO-A CORUÑA - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
Buffet Breakfast and following the north coast departure to Ribadeo entering
Galicia, an other Gallic province belonging to Spain. Stop at the Playa de
Catedrales, a beach popular among tourists and locals alike due to its
cathedral-like rock formations than can only be seen in low tide. Continue
to Betanzos, a historic town at the confluence of two rivers, where you will
have free time for lunch on your own. Continue to the major city of A Coruña
for a short stop, then on to today's final destination, Santiago de
Day 6 Thursday. SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
Buffet Breakfast and guided tour of the city build around the World famous
Pilgrimage town, a UNESCO World Heritage site with pilgrims in the hundreds
of thousands each year. See the beautiful Cathedral, the old market square. Evening free to
browse around the narrow alleys and soak in the Medieval atmosphere. Those with the premium
package will have a traditional dinner
at the hotel. Overnight in Santiago.
Day 7, Friday: SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – SALAMANCA - MADRID
Buffet Breakfast and departure to Salamanca, famous for its university, one of
the oldest ones in Europe founded in 1218 by King Alfonso IX. Free time
for lunch (on your own) and to stroll around the impressive Plaza Mayor, one of
the nicest main town squares in Spain. ( Premium package includes lunch in Salamanca )
In the afternoon we continue to Madrid. Overnight in Madrid.
Day 8, Saturday: MADRID
Free time to get to know Spain's most important city. In the early evening, enjoy an
“Illuminated Madrid” drive through the bustling streets of the old city, ending
at the historical and impressive 16-17th century Plaza Mayor. (Main Square of
the city) once the scene of most public events including executions. This old
section of Madrid is famous for its typical restaurants and taverns, which serve
great variety of the delicious finger food, the "tapas". PREMIUM
PACKAGE includes a Tapas Dinner tonight. Return to your hotel at your own
Day 9,Sunday: MADRID
Today we start with a guided tour of Madrid to view some of Madrid's most outstanding attractions, like the Puerta del
Sol, the magnificent fountains of Neptune and Cibeles, the stately Alcala Gate,
the busy Gran Via, the Plaza de España and the Plaza de Oriente. Free time for
lunch on your own. In the afternoon you can visit on your own Madrid’s famous Art Museums or perhaps take an optional
tour to the Imperial former capital city of Toledo, a very important cultural
center during the Middle ages where 3 religions lived in piece and harmony. You will be escorted
through its narrow cobblestone streets, glancing back to ages long gone. Touring will include the interior of the magnificent Gothic cathedral and a
visit to St. Tome Church, where El Greco's masterpiece painting is displayed.
There will also be some time for shopping for the unique typical local
artisan products. Overnight in Madrid
Day 10, Monday: MADRID / DEPARTURE
Buffet breakfast. Transfer to Madrid airport for your flight home or take
cruise over to Portugal on the Douro river.
