ITINERARY
1ST DAY Saturday – MADRID – AVILA – SALAMANCA
Breakfast. Departure for Ávila, World Heritage Site and birthplace of Santa
Teresa de Jesus. A great Roman wall surrounds the city
holding in embrace most of its
monumental treasures. Free time to enjoy this jewel of the Middle Ages. Then
exit to Salamanca, a university city par excellence, known worldwide for its artistic richness: cathedrals, palaces, churches of various styles. In
the afternoon we will embark on a city tour
to see the Plaza Mayor, Casa de las
Conchas, the New Cathedral, the Old Cathedral and University. At night you can
enjoy the lively atmosphere of this city. Accommodation.
2ND DAY Sunday – SALAMANCA – CIUDAD RODRIGO – COIMBRA - FATIMA
Breakfast at hotel. Departure towards the border town of Ciudad Rodrigo to continue via Guarda until we reach the University city of Coimbra,
one of the oldest university towns in Europe and once the capital of Portugal. Free time to
admire their narrow streets, hanging houses, palaces, chapels and churches,
which is a must to see. Departure to Fatima, well known
for the Sanctuary of our Lady of Fatima, patroness of Portugal. Free time to
visit the Basilica. Overnight.

3RD DAY Monday – FATIMA – OBIDOS – LISBON
Breakfast at the hotel, then continue our trip to the beautiful medieval city of Obidos
with a Moorish ambiance, where we can explore
the cobblestone streets and red roofed white houses, sheltered by the impressive
city walls. Our next stop will be in Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal,
located on the right bank of the Tagus River.
In the evening we offer an
optional tour
with
dinner
and Fado
show, the national
bitter-sweet
song of Portugal and a must to see. Overnight.

4TH DAY Tuesday – LISBON
Breakfast and overnight, In the morning
we'll have
a panoramic city tour of
Lisbon, passing through the Alfama district, birthplace of St. Anthonyand once
the old Moorish Quarters;
the Belem Tower,
symbol of Lisbon and the Jeronimous
Monastery with
its beautiful ornamentation typical of the
Portuguese Manueline style resembling coral marine life. Afternoon at leisure. Possibility of an optional tour to see the 3
most visited towns on the outskirts of Lisbon, Sintra world Heritage Town,
Cascais and Estoril
seaside resort towns..
5TH DAY Wednesday – LISBON – CÁCERES - SEVILLA
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards the Spanish border to arrive to the
World Heritage city of Caceres, with
fortified buildings form the
14th and 16th century
exemplifying the power struggles between the Moorish and Catholic kingdoms
before the Reconquista.
The old
town
is one of the 3 best
conserved medieval quarters in Europe. Tour on foot to see the Plaza Mayor and
the old medieval district. After our tour continue to Sevilla.

6TH DAY Thursday – SEVILLE
Breakfast and overnight. Morning panoramic
city
tour, driving through Maria Luisas
Park, The University, Americas Square and The Pavillions built in 1929 for the
Iberoamerican Fair. Following the panoramic tour we will continue on foot from
the Murillo Gardens towards the old “Santa Cruz” quarters. Brief stop. We will
then proceed to the Cathedral (entrance included),
final resting place of Christopher Columbus. We will
also see the
symbol of Seville,
the Giralda Tower once the minaret of
a
Mosque and today
the belfry of the Cathedral. Afternoon at leisure where you can attend an
optional artistic tour
or visit on your own the gorgeous Alcazar, one of the most beautiful royal
palaces of Europe which is still in use.
In the
evening, possibility of attending the
finest Flamenco Show in Spain.
7TH DAY Friday – SEVILLE – RONDA – COSTA DEL SOL
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Ronda, passing through the Route of the
White Villages
of Andalucia
to arrive
at
Ronda. Ronda is one of the oldest
cities in Spain, whose origins date back to the Neolithic Period. Free time to
explore the main sites of Ronda.
From
the Tajo
River
Gorge enjoy a
stunning
view of the city
and see
the oldest bullring in Spain, considered the symbol and soul
of Ronda. In the afternoon departure to the international beachside resort,
La
Costa del Sol. Dinner and overnight.
8TH DAY Saturday – COSTA DEL SOL – GRANADA
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time till midmorning to then proceed to Granada
at
the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Tour of
the most visited monument in Spain declared
UNESCO
World Heritage, the Alhambra,
a spectacular testimony to former Moorish power in Iberia. We
will be seeing the Nazarite Palaces
with beautiful views across the mountains
and the
delightful
Generalife Gardens
of roses, myrtle, cypress and secret fountians.

included). Overnight.
9TH DAY Sunday – GRANADA – TOLEDO – MADRID
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Toledo,
the city famous for its prosperity and forward thinking in the middle ages where
members of three religions used to live in harmony.
Tour of this monumental city
declared
a
World Heritage
site. On arrival panoramic drive around Toledo and then
proceed on foot to visit the historical old town. We will enter the Catheral
(entrance included), Santo Tome which in its interior holds one of the
masterpieces of El Greco, “The burial of the count of Orgaz” (entrance included)
and finally we will proceed towards the former Jewish Quarters to see the
synagogue of St. Maria La Blanca. Afternoon departure to
Madrid. End of the tour in Madrid.
Extra night in Madrid can be added.
