1st DAY Thursday – MADRID.
Arrival on your own at Madrid airport. Transfer to your hotel, free time and
overnight in Madrid
2nd DAY Friday - Madrid
After breakfast a morning panoramic city tour of Madrid to visit the Spain
Square, , the University Complex, the West park, Casa de campo, the Moorish
Quarters, Orient Square, Sun Gate, Neptune, Atocha, Alacala gate, Ventas Bull
ring, Columbus sq, Gran Via, etc. Afternoon is at leisure or optional excursion
to Toledo or the El Escorial outside of Madrid.
3rd DAY Saturday – MADRID – ZARAGOZA – SAN SEBASTIAN
Departure towards Zaragoza. Free time to visit the Basilica of Our Lady
of The Pilar, patroness of Hispanity and stroll through the old streets of
Zaragoza. In the afternoon we will continue to San Sebastian, one of the
most famous tourist destinations where they hold the Internation Film
Festival. Panoramic city tour of this French style bourgeois city, seeing
the extraordinary landscape dominated by the bay and the magnificent
Conchas beach. Overnight.
4th DAY Sunday – SAN SEBASTIAN – BILBAO – CASTRO URDIALES – SANTANDER
Breakfast at hotel. We will approach Mount Igueldo, to admire the
attractive views of the city and then proceed towards Bilbao. Panoramic
drive through Bilbao and free time on the esplanade where the Guggenheim
Museum is located in order to admire this modern building of famed
architecture. Proceed to the Bay of Biscay to the old fishing village “Castro Urdiales”. Free
time for lunch or to to stroll around the sea shore. Departure to Santander, capital of Cantabria, a port city and a popular resort located between the sea and
the Cantabrian mountains with its own microclimate. It is well known for its lovely promenades and the Sardinero Beach, one of the best known
beaches in Spain. Free time to stroll through this elegant city.
5th DAY Monday SANTANDER – SANTILLANA – COVADONGA – OVIEDO
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Santillana del Mar, a famous World Heritage Site, one of the most
important historical towns in Spain from the Middle Ages. It contains Romanesque architectural
treasures such as the Collegiate of Santa Juiliana, a Jewel of the
Romanesque Arquitecture in Cantabria. Stroll along the cobble-stoned Medieval streets and absorb an authentic Middle Age athmosphere. Continue to Covadonga, where we
will have free time to see the Sanctuary and the Grotto with
the patroness of Asturias our Lady of Covadonga. In the afternoon,
departure to Oviedo, where you will see on a series of hills the beauty of
Saint Maria de Naranco Church, Jewel of the pre-Romantic Austrian
architecture. Free time to explore Oviedo with many of its streets
pedestrian, where you will be able to see World Heritage sites like The
Cathedral, a splendid example of gothic Austrian architecture. Overnight.
6th DAY Tuesday OVIEDO – GIJON – CUDILLERO – LUGO
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Gijon, panoramic city tour and then
proceed to Cudillero, one of the most picturesque fishing villages in
Spain with houses cascading down the steep slopes. In the afternoon depart to Lugo, which holds one of the most
impressive Roman ramparts with a perimeter of 2266 meters in circumference
declared World Heritage. Since part of the ramparts are open to the public, if you like, you can walk on top of the ancient walls admiring the city from a perspective above. Overnight in Lugo.
7th DAY Wednesday – LUGO – A CORUÑA
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to La Coruña. Brief panoramic drive
through the main avenues of this fabulous town driving by the Marine
Avenue to admire the elegance of this city with the typical Galician architecture of glass house galleries, balconies enclosed by glass windows. Brief stop in one of the wonders of
the world the oldest still in use lighthouse the “ Tower of Hercules” dating
back from the roman period. Afternoon at leisure or you can join an
optional tour to the nearby Rias Altas river estuary area with its bustling old villages. Overnight.
8th DAY Thursday – A CORUÑA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Santiago de Compostela, a declared World
Heritage as it is one of the most important centers of Christian
Pilgrimages in Spain as the end of the Camino de Santiago routes built
during the Roman Empire. City tour where we will see the main square
called Obradoiro and also the Cathedral entrance included -
dedicated to the Apostle Santiago. Afternoon free at leisure to explore
the narrow cobblestone streets and get the feel of the student atmosphere.
9th DAY Friday – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – RIAS BAJAS – LA TOJA – VIGO
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards one of the most picturesque
areas of Galicia, the Rias Bajas. Driving through this magnificent
landscape we will arrive to la Toja Island, known for its spa.
Free time and continue to the Ria de Arosa, passing through Pontevedra to
arrive to Vigo, situated in the middle of the Rias Baixas area. Afternoon at
leisure to enjoy this lively city or an optional tour to Bayona and Santa
Tecla to see the old Celtic remains situated on the hill of Santa Tecla
and the impressive views of the
Miño River and Portugal. Overnight.
10th DAY Saturday – VIGO - SALAMANCA – MADRID
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Salamanca following the Old Silver
Route built during the Roman times. On arrival free time in this world
renowned city with one of the oldest universities in Europe. Visit the
magnificent Plaza Mayor, the Shells House, the old and new Cathedral. Continue
towards Villacastin crossing through the Guadarrama mountain range to
arrive back at Madrid. People who only take the shorter 7 night version
of this tour without the Madrid stay will finish this tour in the evening.
For them the last night hotel (Saturday) in Madrid is not included
11th Day Sunday – MADRID
